Look Closer

Like a magnifying glass, smugLoupe allows you to zoom in on the image to get a closer look when browsing in the critique viewing style.

Using smugLoupe

When you turn on the loupe, it will load a detailed version of the image. Depending on the size of your image, this could take 12 seconds or so. Once it's loaded, you can click on the magnified area and slide it over the image.

The left and right arrow keys on your keyboard will increase the size of the loupe box, allowing you to see a larger area of the image. The up and down keys will increase and decrease the magnification on the image.

Disabling smugLoupe

Disabling originals or the larger display sizes in Customize Gallery will prevent the original image from being used. This makes the loading time for the loupe faster, but decreases the total magnification. Professional accounts can turn off Larges as well, which disables the loupe entirely.

Pro and Power users can disable it by adding this to their customization:

#smugLoupe {display: none;}

Details...

smugLoupe doesn't give you direct view to your image's original pixels because it would be too slow for many originals. What it does is offer a magnified view of up to 10x the resolution of the display image you see in the critique style. We say "up to" because not all originals have enough pixels to get that much magnification.
